Wish You Were Her
This piece was included in the gallery show “These Days”, a collaboration with photographer Bill Webb, Jr. of Memphis, Tennessee. This piece was influenced by post cards with the message “Wish You Were Here” on them. I chose to mark out the “E” in the word “here” to display the message “Wish You Were Her” instead. I paired it with Bill’s image of the no-tell motels known for their hourly rates. The image conjured thoughts of illicit affairs, cheaters, etc. and that made me reflect of the relationships I’ve had where my partner did things that made me feel like he had an underlying wish that I was someone else.
Ink jet prints and wire letters, laminated in abaca paper, stretched over bailing wire frames. Each piece has a spoke coming off the wire frame that simply sticks directly into a wall. Installation services offered for free for local purchases only. If you would like to purchase the photograph in the images please contact me. It will cost an additional $150.00.
