Your Moon

$550.00

This piece was included in the gallery show “These Days”, a collaboration with photographer Bill Webb, Jr. of Memphis, Tennessee. This piece is a reflection on just a small segment of the loss and incompatibility of my marriage. Loaded statement for an art piece, I know. Bill’s image of the defunct flower shop with a contrasting fine and functional limousine is what started with my reflection on how to visually interpret this piece. The pulp used to cast the vase forms was from old clothing that belonged to my ex. I cast it with the words “impossible to please” embedded into the final result, as that was a statement he used to describe me after our relationship had completely fallen apart. While there is probably some truth in that broad statement, even during the roughest parts of our disagreements I just wanted to be a loving and supportive partner to him. After the dust settled I realized he never knew what I loved in him nor did I know what he loved in me. Thankfully we are both better off where we are now.

Cast recycled cotton pulp, zinnia petals laminated in abaca paper, bailing wire. If you would like to purchase the photograph in the images please contact me. It will cost an additional $150.00.
